Dr. Whitman is currently the Directory of the Statistical Consulting Center at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  He holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from Princeton University where he studied general relativity and taught the freshman calculus course for honors engineering students. After Princeton, he worked in quantitative finance as a director of research, quantitative researcher, and portfolio manager quantitatively managing equity portfolios. Before joining the staff at UL Lafayette, he returned to academia to do neuroscience research at the University of Texas at Austin, creating mathematical models of neurons firing in the brain.
